People of Georgia, the search is on!
September is National Preparedness Month, and GEMA’s Ready Georgia campaign is on the hunt for our state’s most prepared citizen! Do YOU know who it is?
Most of us have a family plan and a stash of emergency supplies – then there are those who go above and beyond. If a major event happened, do you know exactly the person you’d want to be with? Do you have an aunt who brings her Ready Kit everywhere? Does your husband stockpile canned goods ‘just in case’? Help them be recognized for their hard work and determination!
To nominate: Send us a photo of your pick for Georgia’s Most Prepared, along with a description of why they deserve the title. You can email your submissions to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or post them on Facebook or Twitter. Tag us (Facebook: @Georgia Emergency Management/Homeland Security; Twitter: @GeorgiaEMA) and also use the hashtag #GAMostPrepared. Submissions will be accepted September 1-30, 2016.
Winner Selection and Prize: We will post each qualified submission in a Facebook album. Fans can vote on a nominee by clicking “LIKE” on their photo and story. On September 30, the nominee with the most votes will be recognized as Georgia’s Most Prepared Citizen. The winner will receive an official certificate signed by the Director of GEMA, be interviewed for a featured article promoted by the agency, and a stocked Ready kit complete with a NOAA Weather Radio (for Georgia’s Most Prepared Citizen to give to a family member or friend in need, of course.)
We’re excited to read all about our ready Georgians and to share their stories of leading by example. Send us your nominees and start campaigning for votes today!
