What’s in their kit?
DeLisha Milton-Jones is Prepared
What are three items you include in your Ready kit in addition to the suggested items on the Ready Georgia checklist? An extra fully charged cell phone battery, a three-day supply of non-perishable food like dried fruit, nuts/jerky, water and a blanket are just a few of the items that you can find in my Ready kit.
Why do you think emergency preparedness is important? In the sports world, being one step ahead is crucial to being successful. The same mentality should be taken in our everyday lives as well. You definitely don’t want to wait until the last minute to make sure you have the supplies you need in case of an emergency. Being prepared and ahead of the game can mean life or death in the real world.
Have you or a loved one experienced an emergency where a Ready Kit would have come in handy? I have friends who were stuck in traffic for 11 or more hours during Atlanta’s winter storm in 2014. Following the storm, many of them indicated to me that they were not prepared and how they wished they had items such as water, food, a flashlight, medications and more. I know for a fact that each of them will have a Ready kit for their home and car moving forward.
