What are three (or more) unique items you plan to include (or have already included) in your Ready kit in addition to the suggested items on the Ready Georgia checklist? I have two weather ready kits, one for the house and one for the car. In my car, I also have a battery operated phone charger, a blanket for winter weather, kitty litter, and some non-perishable snacks. In my home, I have a bike helmet and a battery operated phone charger.
Why do you think emergency preparedness is important? Here in Georgia we are either dealing with weather or preparing for it. Our weather runs the gamut from severe storms and tornadoes to crippling ice and snow storms. Being prepared is the key to survival. Having a Ready kit in your home and car can be paramount to keeping you and your family safe. Our weather can be unpredictable at times and having a proper survival kit can give you peace of mind, knowing you are prepared for the worst.
Have you or a loved one experienced an emergency where a Ready kit would have come in handy?? Yes, my brother got caught in Snowjam 2014 and was stuck on the road for 17 hours with no food, water or a charged cell phone. He now understands the importance of being prepared for an emergency and has taken the necessary steps to do so.
